Connie Josey
Founder and Principal
Connie was raised in the Aquadale Community of Stanly County, North Carolina and graduated valedictorian from Albemarle High School in 1997. In 2000, she graduated magna cum laude from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and a minor in Accounting. She attended the University of North Carolina School of Law on a full tuition merit-based scholarship, where she was Executive Editor and a published author with the North Carolina Banking Institute Journal, coordinator of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance group, a volunteer with the Pro Bono Program and an active member of the Environmental Law Project. Connie earned her law degree from UNC in 2003. Following law school, she served as clerk to the Honorable Sanford L. Steelman, Jr., at the North Carolina Court of Appeals.
Before founding First Street Legal, Connie was an attorney at the Albemarle law firm of Brown, Brown & Brown for over sixteen years. She now leads a busy practice focused on real estate, estate planning, and estate administration. Connie also represents several local municipalities.
In addition to her law practice, Connie devotes substantial time to her community. She recently served two terms as President of the Board of Directors for Stanly Community Christian Ministry and currently serves as the board's Property Committee Chair. She is also a board member of the Albemarle Downtown Development Committee. In the past, she has worked with other local nonprofits including Hospice of Stanly County, the John Murray Community Care Clinic, and Sundays at Three as well as volunteering on the committee of her son's local BSA troop.
Connie resides in Albemarle with her husband, Jeff Mosher (an engineer and licensed highway contractor), and her son, Hunter Josey (a senior Gray Stone Day School). Jeff and Hunter are both Eagle Scouts and their family enjoys traveling and being outdoors together, especially sailing.
Jan Blanton
Senior Legal Assistant
Jan was raised in Asheboro, North Carolina and is a 1989 cum laude graduate of Wingate College with a major in English and minor in Psychology. Jan has over thirty years of experience in the legal field with a focus on real estate. She has also worked on the banking side of real estate transactions as a loan processor. Jan and Connie have worked together since 2014, and their clients agree they make a great team! Jan and her husband, Mike Blanton have been married since 1992, and they reside in Albemarle where they have raised two sons. Their oldest son, Bryan, is a graduate of Catawba College and plays baseball in the Independent League. Their youngest son, Justin, is a graduate of East Carolina University pursuing a career in parks and recreation management in the Greenville, North Carolina region. Jan's favorite hobbies are watching sports (especially NFL Football, Tarheels basketball and NY Yankees baseball), going to the beach and reading.
Tonya Graeff
Legal Assistant
Tonya is a native of Stanly County and graduated from Pfeiffer University in 1991 with a degree in Elementary Education. She is a retired educator who served thirty-one years in the classroom, twenty-eight of which were with Stanly County Schools. In 2022, Tonya joined the team at First Street Legal as a part time legal assistant.
Tonya and her husband, Shawn Graeff, also a retired educator and coach, reside in Albemarle. They have one daughter, Riley, a recent graduate of Appalachian State University who is pursuing a career in commercial photography in Boone, North Carolina. Tonya's family enjoys attending concerts and App State football games, discovering new restaurants, and vacationing together.
